Blackhouse Grill

Blackhouse Grill ChesterWe went to the Blackhouse Grill for a family celebration. There were about 6 of us there, so a medium sized party, and the restaurant was quite busy as it was one of the busiest nights of the week.

Upon arrival we were met immediately and all of the staff were very pleasant. We were shown to the bar and ordered ourselves some drinks while we waited for the table to be ready.

Once seated we all noticed how nice the atmosphere was. The restaurant is well laid out, with plenty of room in-between all of the tables, but it is still big enough to accommodate a large number of guests.

As the Blackhouse Grill specialises in steaks, I got myself one. As soon as the waiter set it down I could tell it was going to be delicious. The steak came with triple-cooked chips – which don’t sound like the healthiest foodstuff – which are fried, baked, and then fried again (I think).

Everyone else enjoyed their meal, and no one had a bad word to say about the restaurant. The prices are quite reasonable, especially when you consider that the menu is taken up largely by steaks. I think the steak I ordered cost around £13, which you could expect to pay at your local pub.

We have since been several times. I once had the opportunity to order the Kobe beef burger. Kobe is a Japanese cow that is reared on beer and massaged daily. The burger was lovely, but I think I would prefer a normal beef burger. However, I can see why someone would love it, so I’d definitely recommend you try it. There is also a Kobe steak, which is considerably more expensive than everything else on the menu – I think it’s something that everyone should try at least once.
